3 Must-Try Recipes Featuring Ataré from Yaji Spice

Coconut Jollof Rice 

Prep and Cook Time: 1 hour 
Servings: 6 

Ingredients 

  • 2 cups long-grain rice 
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk 
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil 
  • 1 onion, finely chopped 
  • 1 red bell pepper 
  • 1 green bell pepper 
  • 3 large tomatoes 
  • 1 teaspoon Yaji Mama Put 
  • 1 teaspoon Yaji Ataré 
  • 1 cube bouillon or broth 
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder 
  • 1 teaspoon thyme 
  • Salt to taste 
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth 

Instructions 

  1. Rinse the rice and set aside. 
  2. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent. 
  3. Put peppers and tomatoes into food processer and blend into a paste. Put paste into pan with onions. Cook until the mixture thickens and the oil separates. 
  4. Stir in Yaji Spice Mama PutYaji Ataré, curry powder, thyme, and salt. 
  5. Add the rice and coat it with the sauce. 
  6. Pour in the coconut milk and broth or bouillon cube. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked. 
  7. Fluff the rice and serve. 

 

Suya Lamb Chops 

Prep and Cook Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes 
Servings: 4 

Ingredients 

Instructions 

  1. Combine Yaji Suya and Yaji Ataré, oil, and a pinch of salt in a bowl to make the marinade. 
  2. Coat the lamb chops with the marinade and let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. 
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.4 
  4. Cook lamb chops until done. 

  

Spicy Lentil Stew 

Prep and Cook Time: 45 minutes 

Servings: 4 

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup green or brown lentils, rinsed 
  • 1 onion, chopped 
  • 2 carrots, diced 
  • 2 celery stalks, diced 
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced 
  • ½ teaspoon Yaji Ataré 
  • ¼ teaspoon Yaji Suya 
  • 4 cups vegetable broth 
  • 1 can diced tomatoes 
  • Salt and pepper to taste 
  • 2 tablespoons oil 
  • Fresh parsley for garnish 

Instructions 

  1. Heat oil in a pot and sauté the chopped onion, carrots, celery, and minced garlic. 
  2. Add Yaji AtaréYaji Suya. Cook for a minute. 
  3. Pour in vegetable broth and add rinsed lentils. Bring to a boil. 
  4. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 25-30 minutes, or until lentils are tender. 
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. 
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
