What Are Mild Chili Peppers?
Our mild chili peppers are African cayenne pepper. They burst with more flavors and pack more of a punch than regular cayenne pepper. At 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville heat units (SHU), they are twelve times hotter than a jalapeno pepper, but still considered mild.
Appearance
Mostly red in color, the cayenne pepper is a thin chili pepper from about 5 to 13 centimeters.
Scientific Name
Cayenne pepper is known by its scientific name, Capsicum annuum. The fruits are dried and ground to make cayenne spice.
Growing Mild Chili Peppers
The ideal growing conditions for cayenne peppers are full sun and moist, rich soil. They bear fruit in the late summer and early fall.
Flavors of Mild Chili Pepper
Mild chili peppers can contribute a fresh and vibrant flavor to dishes. They can add a crispness or herbaceous quality that enhances the overall taste experience. Look for hints of tropical fruits and a tangy earthy sweetness when you include these in your cooking.
