This October 25, celebrate World Pasta Day with Yaji Spice! This day celebrates pasta as a staple of the culinary world. Classic pasta like spaghetti can be spiced up with our spice blends, which add the perfect amount of warmth, smokiness, and nuanced sweetness. Try our Ataré blend, which delivers a punch, or Mama Put, which supplies fiery heat. Pasta pairs well with Yaji Spice blends because it’s a unique twist on a classic dish.
Pasta comes in many different forms, shapes, and sizes. According to italy magazine, there are approximately 350 different types of pasta with many more names for them. These include the rarer bigoli, which is a noodle-like spaghetti from Veneto, Italy. Other region-specific pastas include strozzapreti, trofie, and orecchiette. With so many different options, it’s not easy to pick a favorite.
To truly explore your options, consider all types of noodles. One way to classify a noodle is to determine if it is small pasta, ribbon-cut, tube-shaped, or stuffed. Each type of pasta has its own appeal. Each type of pasta can be elevated by Yaji all-purpose spice blends. For example, you can sprinkle Ataré on small pasta like rotini or tube-shaped rigatoni.
Small pasta types are within 1–2 inches in length. Farfalle, or “bow tie pasta,” is a small pasta dish that’s very versatile. It can be paired with a light base like butter or olive oil. It can also be topped by rich sauces like cream, tomato, or pesto. Other small pasta dishes include orecchiette, rotini, orzo, ditalini, and stelline.
Ribbon-cut pasta types can be classic, like spaghetti, linguine, fettucine, and lasagna, or less well-known. Examples of less well-known include capellini (thinner strands than spaghetti), vermicelli (slightly thicker), and tagliatelle (a medium-wide noodle). There are also pappardelle (broad, flat noodles), and bucatini (spaghetti-type strands with hole in center). Each type can be elevated to the next level by Yaji spice blends.
Tube-shaped pasta includes penne, rigatoni, macaroni, cannelloni, manicotti, and ziti. They are made by pressing dough through a die to form different shapes. Penne are tube-shaped pieces that come to a point on both ends. Their name comes from the Italian word for “pen.” Ziti are hollow, cylinder-shaped pasta often baked into casseroles.
The last categorization of pasta is stuffed. Stuffed pasta can be enjoyed with a sprinkling of Yaji spice blends. Add heat, smokiness, and sweetness to your pasta dish with our spice blends. Stuffed pasta includes ravioli, tortellini, cappelletti, agnolotti, fagottini, and mezelune, among others. Each type is filled with meat, cheese, Portobello mushrooms, or other ingredients.
History of World Pasta Day
World Pasta Day was created on October 25, 1995, by the World Pasta Congress. Experts discussed the contributions pasta has made in the cultural and culinary worlds. They established the day to promote the eating of pasta and to share knowledge about pasta. The World Pasta Congress encourages people to try new pasta like some of the varieties discussed in this blog.
