Grill up a storm this summer, whether your menu calls for steak, chicken, or even veggies. Treat your loved ones to a delicious and hearty meal on the grill. It will brighten their day and create beautiful and lasting memories.
Our first tip?
Use Suya spice blend. As you grill your meat or veggies to perfection, use Suya spice blend to give them a delicious flavor. Or, if you’re looking for a nut-free alternative, try No Nut Suya spice blend. Each of these blends offers a bold and spicy flavor that can’t be found elsewhere.
Our next tips?
Prepare the grill. Start by cleaning the grates of food debris. Oil them to prevent sticking. Before adding food, preheat the grill to the correct temperature. You can determine this temperature by considering food type and thickness.
Don’t overcrowd. Don’t overcrowd the grill with too much food and leave space for even cooking and heat circulation.
Flip and move frequently. Flip meat frequently unless searing. Move food like shrimp frequently as well so they cook evenly and don’t burn.
Use a meat thermometer. You’ll want to use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the food.
Season to taste. In addition to salt and pepper, you can use Suya spice blend to season your meats or veggies. Suya is a spicy, savory seasoning that is named after a popular Nigerian street food, Suya. The spice blend is bold and fiery, making it a good match for grilled meats and veggies.
We’re excited to share with you a grilled chicken recipe that incorporates Suya spice blend.
Grilled Chicken with Suya Spice Blend
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Marinate: 30 minutes
Total time: 55 minutes
Servings: 6
Ingredients
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp Suya Spice Blend
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, about 2 pounds
Instructions
- Combine the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, chili powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Whisk until well combined.
- Place the chicken breasts in a zip-top plastic bag and pound them using a meat mallet or rolling pin until they are an even thickness, about ½-inch thick.
- Pour the marinade into the bag with the chicken, seal the bag, and place it in a baking dish (in case of leaks). Turn the bag to coat all parts of the chicken. Place chicken in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
- Clean the grates of a gas or charcoal grill (or use an indoor grill pan). Oil the grill grates and heat the grill to medium high (375-450 degrees F).
- Remove the chicken from the marinade, dust the chicken in the Suya spice to for a medium coat and discard any extra marinade. Grill chicken for 5-8 minutes per side, until cooked through. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165 degrees F. For the best grill marks and juicy chicken, begin cooking the chicken on a hotter part of the grill for a few minutes and then move it to lower heat to finish cooking through.
- Let chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
